Junior Development – The Launchpad for Young Superboat Racers
The Junior Development category is the ideal way for 8–16 year olds to dive into the world of V8 Superboats. The purpose-built, single-seater fibreglass boats feature 215 horsepower Sea-Doo engines, learner-key speed controls, and adjustable components to ensure safety, comfort, and control. At under 300 kg, these boats pack plenty of excitement in a manageable, youth-friendly package.
With solo, shortened-track runs, stringent safety gear requirements, and shared-boat opportunities, Junior Development offers an accessible, affordable, and fiercely fun gateway into jet sprint racing. It’s where future champions like Koby Bourke and Connor Smith first cut their teeth—and you could follow in their wake.
Whilst there are no current Junior Development competitors on the water right now, opportunities are available for new entrants. Boats can be purchased second-hand or built new to specification, providing a fantastic pathway for families looking to get involved in the sport.
The category was created to inspire and develop the next generation of drivers, giving young racers the confidence, skills, and thrill of jet sprinting in a safe and controlled environment.
