With Australia in the grip of unpredictable and changeable weather conditions, the Penrite Australian V8 Superboats Championship has been handed a less than ideal start to the season, challenging conditions impacting all three rounds to date – the latest event postponed completely after unrelenting rain hit the New South Wales north coast in early November.
That event left a gap in the season, with the Round Mountain Raceway committee keen to confirm a replacement date – especially off the back of such strong support for the November meeting, the venue seeing significant attendance ahead of the difficult decision to call the meeting to a close – that replacement date has now been revealed as May 4-5.
“As an outdoor event you are very much affected by the weather, so there was little anyone could do once the rain had set in,” new Round Mountain Raceway President Grant Bourke explained.
“We were grateful to the many people who came out to support the event – even staying as we waited for a window to make a decision, so we were really keen to set a return date to bring the Penrite Series back to the Tweed Valley and entertain the fans as only V8 Superboats can do.”
The Cabarita venue will now host the final round of the 2023/24 season, with a traditional two-day event ahead of the annual presentations.
For fans of the Penrite Series, the postponed round will feature on 7mate on Monday, January 22 from 3:30pm nationally (check TV guides to confirm) with content from the event and background stories behind the Series.
Ticket details will be made available soon on the V8 Superboats website; www.v8superboats.com.au

About Penrite
Founded in Melbourne in 1926 by – then – 16-year old Les Mecoles, Penrite Oil utilised high-quality lubricants from Pennsylvania [USA] base stocks, hence the name ‘Pen’ from the base stock and ‘rite’ for the right oil. In 1979, due to ill health, Les sold the company to John and Margaret Dymond.
Almost 100 years on from those early beginnings the Dymond family have built Penrite into one of Australia’s most prominent and recognised brands. The iconic Australian-made and owned lubricants company has a simple philosophy: ‘the rite product for the application’.
Penrite Oil Company produces a large range of high-quality products suited to the Australian conditions including the exciting 10 Tenths Racing Oils range which offers a superior package of performance and protection for both competition and high performance engines.
