The Australian Formula Jet Sprint Association [AFJSA] has revealed that long-term V8 Superboat partner Penrite will return to the Australian Championships for a fifth season, becoming the naming rights sponsor for the 2023/24 Penrite Australian V8 Superboats Championship.

“This is fantastic news for the sport alongside our renewed relationship with the 7 Network allowing us to take the sport to a national audience on free-to-air television,” the AFJSA’s Kyle Elphinstone acknowledged.

“Since the setbacks of Covid, the sport has been on an upward surge, with some of our biggest fields in over a decade, whilst the reach of the television program overseas has also generated plenty of interest, the fact that we will have as many as five crews from New Zealand competing in our series this year is a great indication that we have amongst the best racing in the world.”

The opening round of the 2023/24 Penrite Australian V8 Superboats Championship will begin in four weeks time at the Lake Centenary venue in Temora on the edge of the New South Wales Riverina for what will be a first in a number of years at the popular regional venue – a day race.

“With our earlier start to the season just off the back of winter, it was difficult to put our Safety Crew in a position where they’d likely be spending time in freezing water with the night-time temperatures plummeting into single digits, it’s also something different for the teams and the fans, not to be racing there under lights so it mixes things up.”

Across the country, teams are working feverishly to prepare boats, the usual last-minute challenge of delayed parts and busy machine shops undoubtedly contributing to what may be a few missing boats to kick off the new season, but with the ongoing growth of the LS-Class, some renewed enthusiasm for the 400-Class title fight, and some new challengers in the Unlimited Superboat category, there will be no shortage of stories to keep fans entertained this season.

About Penrite
Founded in Melbourne in 1926 by – then – 16-year old Les Mecoles, Penrite Oil utilised high-quality lubricants from Pennsylvania [USA] base stocks, hence the name ‘Pen’ from the base stock and ‘rite’ for the right oil. In 1979, due to ill health, Les sold the company to John and Margaret Dymond.

Almost 100 years on from those early beginnings the Dymond family have built Penrite into one of Australia’s most prominent and recognised brands. The iconic Australian-made and owned lubricants company has a simple philosophy: ‘the rite product for the application’.

Penrite Oil Company produces a large range of high quality products suited to the Australian conditions including the exciting 10 Tenths Racing Oils range which offers a superior package of performance and protection for both competition and high performance engines.
